West Derby Children’s Centre had the privilege of welcoming Margaret Knight to play her harp at the centre on Tuesday 21st February 2012. She was part of the “Music in Hospitals” charity whose mission statement is to “Enhance People’s lives through the joy and therapeutic benefits of professionally performed live music”.
All the children and parents who attended the session engaged in the magical experience and relaxation of the Harp. Margaret encouraged everyone to ”have a go” and some of the children enjoyed the chance to sit on the instrument, while Margaret played.
It was a beautiful and relaxing session with families from the West Derby area. This session was funded by the West Derby Waste Lands Charity.

Update 12/01/12 - Important News -
The Council, having considered the response to the Statutory Consultation, has made a new commitment to keep all children’s centres open including WEST DERBY.
This is tremendous news for West Derby. Congratulations to all who campaigned and supported the consultation process. Further details will be published by the Council in the near future, however we do know that there will be budget reductions to all the centres.
We will keep you informed of the details as soon as Governors and Headteacher are informed.
